Catalyst: A Creative Industries Podcast

Mar 4, 2021

Catalyst is a Creative Industries podcast, from Chapman University. Each episode features Chapman students who have completed a Podcasting course through the Center for Creative and Cultural Industries at the university. Students who had no podcasting experience or technical ability in the genre before taking the course were able to contribute all the segments to Catalyst this season with the goal being that they will take this ‘hands-on’ experience and carry it over to the launching of their very own series. Each episode of season 5 consists of two segments, with each segment featuring a different interview by one or more CCI students, who explore different aspects of the Creative and Cultural Industries.

This week Rory Biles and Madison Boyd have music on the brain when they sit down to talk with fellow Dylan Hartanov about the process of learning to become a musician. They also delve into the creative connections between athletics and playing a musical instrument, and how to nurture both within a college environment.

Next we jump into the world of Matthew Johnson to discuss the business of creativity through modern takes on emotional marketing, content creation and creative experience as interviewers Caitlin Couch and Julius Durets sit down with Matthew. The trio talk about CCI concepts though his work with the Red Bull field team, and startup ‘OOOH’ before exploring the concept of creativity purely for the experience.
